Done with reading The Alchemist!
It was recommended by a friend that I meet a year ago, we were discussing about books and he mentioned about this. The way he put it, the reviews from internet made me had high expectations towards it. Overall, the summary of this book is about this boy who listens to his heart (or instincts?),work hard, have the courage and determination to chase after his dreams (yes dreams, he dreamed of there's this treasure at somewhere) ANDDD he succeed (yay).
The book is something light to read, clear and direct, without too much fancy and bombastic words, lengthy description, not too "deep" nor boring however whether is it that inspirational, it all depends on the reader they themselves. It is true that one should pursue his/her dreams however the way that the author put it felt kinda idealistic. yes, the main character did faced some difficulties and almost lost his life during the process however the part which saying that he should just listen to his heart. This. Maybe is not very appropriate for all situations. We all have dreams and ambition, at certain times, humans changed and forced to make/change decisions due to several factors such as environment and lack of luck. The important thing is to try to achieve what you really want once you have identified it. Find a balance between what your heart and what your brain says. Its the 'laziness' that holds us in doing a lot of great stuff. At the same time, learn to accept that things doesn't always works in a way that favors us all the time. At this age I'm still quite unclear regarding my future directions, hope that those who are facing the same situation as me will sort it out soon! :)
